Kazakhstan and Germany have committed to deepening their economic partnership, focusing on investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. The agreement was reached during talks in Berlin on September 29 between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
President Tokayev emphasized the importance of Germany as Kazakhstan’s strategic partner in Europe, acknowledging the progress in bilateral relations over the past thirty years. A significant aspect of Tokayev’s visit was the proposal to establish a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform aimed at supporting joint projects and facilitating bilateral investments.
During his visit, Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to explore potential collaborations in several sectors, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. Discussions highlighted the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, the modernization of railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities in Kazakhstan.
Both countries are keen on exploring opportunities for German companies to engage in industrial and infrastructure projects within Kazakhstan. This collaboration could potentially grant German businesses greater access to the broader Central Asian market, presenting mutual benefits in economic growth and development.
